The Joys of Spring.........or not...

Spring time and I have a love-hate relationship. I so love the crisp air, cool breeze, and array of beautiful colors that spring brings. Springtime is yet another way that God shows off what He alone created and I love that!
But here is the part where our relationship get's sticky. Unfortunately, the wonderful aroma's of spring hate me! I have spent spring time sneezing, coughing, blowing my nose, taking antibiotics for sinus infections and therefore in bed when I should be outside enjoying the crisp air and cool breeze with my children. This is what spring has looked like for me for...well, most of my life....my adult life anyway and I am well into adulthood now. ;)
As I am typing this, I am now recovering from a pretty bad sinus infection that has kept me down for almost 2 weeks now. I have decided after this run in and the past two that led to pneumonia over the past couple of years, that I am fed up!
Now, I will say this- God has the power to heal me completely in a split second if He so chooses, but that is not always the way He does it. He has a purpose for EVERYTHING, even our sickness and suffering, and I trust Him in that. So, as I pray for healing, I am also praying for His guidance as we seek out ways to make my body healthier and hopefully allergy free someday.
I have been doing some research on all natural methods to help and prevent allergies and sinus infections. I have looked into this a little bit in the past but have never truly committed myself to it. I am ready now.
I will be doing a series of postings as I journey through these findings in an attempt to help someone else who suffers from allergy and sinus problems.

First things first- what are allergies?
When someone suffers from allergies, it is their immune system over-reacting to the allergen.
There are many types of allergies, but this is most likely the reason your body reacts to them in such a way.
You can be an overall healthy person and still suffer from these things. That is me. If I am sick, it is allergies or sinuses. Otherwise, I am a pretty healthy person. I eat healthy and take care of myself. But there is always more you can do and very specific steps you can take to help make your life allergy free.

Here's a sneak peek:

  2. Hey! I got my giant bottle of raw, unfiltered, organic apple cider vinegar. It´s still sitting on my counter because I want Stephen to try it first. Yuck :P

  3. Jenny I am sorry that you have to deal with this every year but hopefully this holistic routine will make a difference. Eric and I both have long touted the benefits of apple cider vinegar and honey for good health! Eric read that when you move from one state to another (and I suppose this would work for moving to another country as well), one of the quickest ways to help your body adjust to the onslaught of possible new allergens is to eat LOCAL honey! We actually did this with Mason (who also suffers from allergies) when we moved from Arkansas to S. Cali. I gave him a spoonful of local honey every day for two weeks and he adjusted very well to his new environment! :O)
